Mearns hunting has been pretty decent so far but as typical they are forcing you to climb more and shoot around trees as the season ages.\u00a0 Gambels and Scaled Quail have continued to be elusive.<\/div>\n

Our next meeting is\u00a0Thursday \u00a019 Jan<\/span><\/span>\u00a0at Steakout\u00a06:30-9:00<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 Dr Heather Connally from Vet Specialties of Tucson has agreed to speak on desert hazards to dogs.<\/div>\n

Dave Brown and the banquet committee has made significant progress on banquet planning.\u00a0 Banquet is planned\u00a04 Feb<\/span><\/span>\u00a0at Sonoita Fairgrounds.\u00a0 He will be looking for help to line up donations and sponsors.\u00a0 For those that may not have a designated driver and want to partake in adult beverages, you might want to consider a room at Sonoita Inn before they fill up.\u00a0 Please get your reservation into Linda Pfister no later than\u00a031 Jan<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and encourage your friends to come.\u00a0 A form is attached if you have lost yours.\u00a0 We are still looking for sponsors and donations.<\/div>\n

Youth Hunt Participates<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Our water for wildlife project has made great progress with Tom Sullivan leading.\u00a0 We are planning to complete this phase on\u00a018 and 19 Jan<\/span><\/span>\u00a0with Pima County.\u00a0 Ron Walp will lead another highway cleanup in Feb.\u00a0 Both Tom and Ron indicate they have enough volunteers lined up.\u00a0 Thanks for your help.\u00a0 Our Mearns diet study with Dr Alberto Macias of Sonora State University is also progressing with a report due from him later this spring. \u00a0 Our Youth Hunt is planned for\u00a04 Mar<\/span><\/span>\u00a0contact Nick Besenick to volunteer or is you know of a youth or novice that would like to participate.<\/div>\n

We have received a donation of 5 great shotguns from a member.\u00a0 We are assessing options to convert their value into future projects for the chapter.<\/div>\n
